Hi
I am currently looking for components connecting Delphi to MySQL. I have for two years used Scibits MyComponents. Now I have decided to throw them away due to the buggy code, and alot of overhead.
I am currently looking at Zoes, MicroOlap and of course Corelabs components.
Can you please tell me what are the advantages, disadvatages of these components ? Is there any reviews on the net comparing these components ?
I also would like to know whether all the mentioned component suits are based upon the components developed by Cristian Nicola http://sourceforge.net/projects/directsql. There is a reference to him ín the dokumentation from CoreLab.
Kind Regards
RH
Which component
Hello,
I m a CoreLab customer, few month ago, i have tested the three component : Zeos, MicroOlap and CoreLab.
MicroOlap didn't support Boolean & bcd fields when we tested it.
Zeos has no native support for Mysql 5 > Obligation to use old authentification password.
And finally, support on this forum is great and reactive, we can find answer with experience of other user.
MicroOlap have a ticket system and i personally don't like this kind of support.
So i choose CoreLab.

Current verision of MyDAC is not based on components mentioned above. All the code of MyDAC if developed by Core Lab Team.

Please specify what aspect of our components usage is not described enough.

Hi Antaeus
I think generally that the dokumentation is good, and I am especially glad with the Delphi style structure of it. But I have in the past few days spent alot of time trying to figure out exactly what some properties and methods are doing. The information is there, but since I am new at this, I sometimes find it hard to understand
. It could be more simplified and described in more detail, like Delphis own dokumentation
For instance I have spent alot of time trying to understand the prepare method. And it was first when I posted a thread in this forum that I got it.
The same goes for pooling.
I also spent a few hours ago trying to figure out what exactly the TMyLoader is for. I opened the demo project and gave it alot of time, but I am still puzzled. I think maybe that the dokumentation is very good for an expert SQL programmer, but is a bit brief for a novice like me
One other example would be that it is not specified why one should execute SQLs in TMyCommand, not TQuery, whenever possible to prevent overhead. I had other things too but I cant remember all now.
I must give you praise though for this forum. This is really a very good idea, and is the reason, why I ended up choosing to test your products and not other component suits.
Thanks for all your answers
