insert records with drop down list for parent table

Hi
This feels like a really simple thing to do but I can't work out how to do it. Please help!

I have a parent table with categories in it and a child table which i want to populate with articles. So I want a data grid that gives me empty cells to enter the information for the article but the category field is a drop down list of my values in the parent table, categories.

How do i do this?
