Problem with Help files in 7.0

Post by FredS » Thu 11 May 2017 01:33

Both help files, UniDAC and VirtualDAC, open up and show the index but don't display a topic.
I re-copied from v7.0 source Zip and same issue, the ones in 6.4.16 source Zip work..

The specified problem may occur if CHM file which you open is located in the network shared folder: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... -execution .

Also specify the version of RAD Studio and OS on which the specified problem is reproduced.

Not a network folder, image shows fresh from your source.zip to my HD:

We still cannot reproduce the specified problem. Please specify whether this problem is reproduced if UniDAC.chm and VirtualDAC.chm are copied on desktop and run from there.

Also try the solution proposed by Microsoft developers: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Fo ... proinstall

Hello,

Using Windows 10 64bit Version 1703. Delphi 10.2 Tokyo, UniDAC 7.0.2 (includes today's PostgreSQL login fix), Microsoft HTML Help Version is 10.0

Below is what I see when I tap F1 on a UniDAC related component etc.

I confirm that related item is focused in the help file, but I need to double click on it or press enter to see the related topic.

So, I also confirm that there is such a problem with help displaying.

Yes, same issue when on Desktop.
UniDac is installed on a local drive so I don't see how the solution is of value to me.

On a side note, I did a quick scan of my Development drive (D:\) and tested all of the chm files that where found. Yours that came in UniDAC 6.4.16 still work and are located under the same root as your v7 ones which don't work.
There are a few more that don't work, mostly old stuff. Mine created in H&M work and about 85% of the ones found on that drive work.

EDIT
One more important item; all the chm which don't work prompt with "Validation Required"..

We reproduced the specified problem. Its cause is not related to UniDAC, but to Windows 10 security policy.

To solve the problem on the UniDAC.chm file call the shortcut menu, click Properties, check Unblock and click OK.

As I could not find any "Unblock" in UniDAC.chm properties, I appreciate more detailed answer, please. Maybe some visuals for easier understanding.

The problem.

The UniDAC.chm content is empty.

When opening UniDAC.chm there may be Windows warning.

The solution.

On the UniDAC.chm file call the shortcut menu, click Properties, check Unblock and click OK.

The UniDAC.chm content is correctly displayed now.

Unfortunately, this does not solve my problem. I already provided my properties displays and there is no Unblock option that I can un-check there.

Had to do a bit of searching since I had never run into this issue before. Here is good set of solutions: How to unblock chm files - unblock button is missing

Hello Fred,

I'm afraid these did not help me to get ENTER pressed on the selected help item. I believe I will continue to use the UniDAC help files the way they are now.

Thank you.
