what does this SSH/SFTP server error mean?

Post by tcaduto12068 » Fri 07 Oct 2016 13:48

I have been noticing some odd errors:

SSH Client Error: Format of server version is invalid(???

Any idea what would cause this?

Please, give a more detailed description of your application. Where SSH channel is connected?

That error happens on the latest version of filezilla after a logon password auth failure.
Did not seem to do it on older versions of Filezilla.

Currently, SecureBridge supports SFTP protocol and does not support FTPS protocol, and you get this error because the FileZilla FTP Server supports FTPS and does not support the SFTP protocol: https://wiki.filezilla-project.org/FileZilla_FTP_Server

It's filezilla client connecting to Sbridge server using SFTP.
That's the error hte Sbridge SFTP server is throwing.

Unfortunately, we could not reproduce the problem on the latest version of FileZilla Client 3.22.1.
Perhaps, you meant the error "Protocol error: unexpected packet type"? We are investigating the problem that causes the error "Protocol error: unexpected packet type" when using FileZilla Client 3.22.1, and we will inform you about the result.
If you get the error "Format of server version is invalid" when working with FileZilla Client 3.22.1, please specify the complete sequence of actions leading to the occurrence of this error.

We have already fixed occurrence of the "Protocol error: unexpected packet type" error. The new build of SecureBridge 7.2.3 including this fix is already available for download.
