Today dbForge informed me that a new version is available. I initiated the update process after which I was asked to restart the application. After restart dbForge simply decided to hang. I went to my Documents folder which is the usual place all updates are placed but to my surprise I found no file. Ok, I thought, the installation process must have removed it. Probably some new procedure to prevent building up stuff in the Documents folder (not as if dbForge releases that much updates either way).
I restart the whole process by redownloading the update from the application. dbForge hangs after update again but the installation is somehow initiated. Somewhere in the middle the setup hangs and leaves me with no choice but to kill it. To my surprise this time the whole update process killed my previous version of dbForge so I essentially can't use it anymore.
I will try to reinstall a clean version of 6.3 but you might want to look at potential issues with this new automatic update procedure. Since this is a fresh installation of Windows 8.1 Pro I highly doubt that the issues are operating system related.
Upgrade to 6.3 hangs / acts weird
Re: Upgrade to 6.3 hangs / acts weird
Hi!
The installation hang up may be related to anti-virus software. Therefore, please specify whether you use anti-virus software, and, if you do, specify its name.
Thanks.

Yes I am using avast Free, program version 2015.10.0.2208. I've checked the logs and it seems avast Sandbox was triggered every time dbForge tried to run the update process (as far as I can see there are some external tools invoked which do this).
And that's one of the odd things about dbForge. From the very first time I used it every install/uninstall/upgrade process triggered avast Sandbox which is something that happens almost exclusively when avast thinks there is something really suspicious. The previous manual upgrades did trigger sandbox but the upgrade process never broke with so much fireworks
If it helps I am providing avast logs which might at least provide you with some info which processes were sandboxed etc.

P.S. A fresh installation did the trick and I am now running 6.3.

Re: Upgrade to 6.3 hangs / acts weird
This appears to be the problem of the Avast antivirus. We will contact them in order to correctly handle this issue.
