DBMonitor and parameters

Post by GEswin » Fri 12 Nov 2004 10:34

Is there any way of viewing the full sql sentence in dbmonitor when using parameters ? On one tab we have the SQL sentence with the parameters, on the other tab the values for the parameters.. I would like to see also the full resulting SQL, which may be usefull for debugging or for copy & paste purposes.

Thanks in advance,

J.Pieter Vos

DBMonitor doesn't provide such functionality.

Would it be possible to have DBMonitor to provide this functionality in a next release ? It would be nice and usefull to see complete resulting sql sentence instead of having to complete it by hand.

DBMonitor serves for monitoring and debugging purposes and reflects queries in the same look as they were generated or set by users, i.e. with using parameters.

Now we are considering ability of enhancement TMySQLMonitor component functionality. Probably, we'll add a new property or use TMySQLMonitor.TraceFlags.tfMisc to determine necessity of TMySQLMonitor.OnSQL call with the final query.

Is this solution acceptable?

At any case, this functionality won't be available for cases of using new MySQL 4.1 API.

Well I do everything with 4.1, specially now that since end october the 4.1 is considered stable and for production. So if it doesn't work with 4.1 it doesn't have any sense for me.

In this case it makes sense not using MySQL Server 4.1, but just using a new API. So until MySQL AB supports compatibility with the old API, there might be no problems.

As to DBMonitor, unlikely at the nearest time. Is it interested for you a solution with TMySQLMonitor?

I should repeat myself, we don't plan to extend DBMonitor functionality in this way. Is it interested for you a solution with enhancement of TMySQLMonitor component functionality?
