In that case I will now buy XE3

I am also running the latest version of SDAC with D5 on a legacy system

When I compile with runtime , I get an access error in SDAC .

When I compile design time , I get told to deploy SDAC and DAC bpls ..

I am on my development machine , where do I deploy the .BPLs to ?

If you are using SDAC trial version, you cannot include SDAC libraries from trial version into your project, so you will have to supply them with your project. This is a SDAC trial version restriction only. You will not have such problems with a licensed version of SDAC.
