Program stops on paralell activity

Hi
I have an update program that uses SDAC components to insert/update a database. When there is outside activity e.g an information window pops up the program stops working. The timeglass shifts directly from a SQL timeglass to an ordinary. Is there a setting in some components or in the program (Delphi XE) that prevent this from happening. When there is no paralell activity the program works OK.
