SDAC 4.35.1.16 and MyDAC 5.20.1.15

I am using SDAC 4.35.1.16. When I tried to install MyDAC 5.20.1.15, it says I have incompatible versions of other DAC products installed. I then uninstalled SDAC, installed MyDAC and tried to reinstall SDAC. Same error.

Which versions should I be using?

Thanks.

These versions must be compatible. Please provide some more information:
- editions of MyDAC and SDAC (Professional with Sources/Professional/Standard/Trial);
- IDE version you are using;
- have you downloaded both installations from our site?

I had SDAC 4.35.1.16 installed (pro with source). I tried to install MyDAC 5.20.1.15 trial. Failed with error stating that incompatible versions of DAC products were installed.

I then uninstalled SDAC 4.35.1.16. Installed MyDAC 5.20.1.15 trial. Went fine. Tried to install SDAC 4.35.1.16 pro. Failed with same error.

SDAC 4.35.1.16 was downloaded from the registered users download area. MyDAC 5.20.1.15 trial was downloaded from the CoreLab MyDAC downloads page.

IDE is Delphi 7.

There may be one of the following reasons:
- any other dac.bpl files persist at your hard drive. Try to uninstall both products, find and remove all dac70.bpl files from your hard drive;
- source code of SDAC have been changed so that they become incompatible with MyDAC;
- MyDAC 5.50 Beta was installed instead of MyDAC 5.20.1.15 (MyDAC 5.50 Beta is not compatible with the current SDAC).

That's probably it. My SDAC has changes to accomodate widestring database names, queries and column properties.

Is there a workaround for this? I don't really want to spend USD 170/- more just to get the source code edition of MyDAC, as I don't have plans to make any changes to it.

Thanks.

Perhaps the problem is something else after all.

I unsintalled both products completely. I then installed SDAC. Tried to install MyDAC, but failed. Uninstalled SDAC. Installed MyDAC fine. Tried to install SDAC but failed.

Would this mean that the failure is not because of some rogue bpl files lying around, as installation of either single product is fine? If there were some old bpl files around, installation of either product should not have succeeded.

For sure, I am not installing MyDac 5.50 beta.

SDAC and MyDAC have the same core. If you changed common sources modifying SDAC, you will need to recompile MyDAC with the same common source files.
