ExactTarget error: Data Extension does not exist

Started getting this error on 2 different instances of Marketing Cloud. I updated to the current 2.1 version of the Excel Add-ins, but the errors is still occurring. I have never had this error before in the 3 years I have been using the Add-in.
This happens when I run a query on some data extensions using with Visual Query Builder or SQL. The query retrieves several thousand rows, then I get an error dialog:
Status: Error: Data extension does not exist: [name of data extension]
If I opt to retrieve only a subset of the rows, then I can usually retrieve that subset before getting the error.
Please note that the data extensions I am querying definitely exist. They appear in the list of data extensions, and are in the business unit that I've logged into (they are not shared data extensions).
