Salesforce 15 Character IDs

Salesforce uses both a 15 and 18 character ID for every record. It appears that selecting the Id using the devart odbc driver supplies the 18 character ID. Is there a way to query the 15 character ID, or would I have to create a separate field in Salesforce to get that?
