ora-12571 TNS-Write Error with 5.10

Hi I'm using ODAC 4.5 with Oracle 9i (9.2.0.1 under linux) using the .NET Option.
This works fine ! (nearly a year by now...).
As we changed from 4.5 to 5.10 we are getting Error-Messages ORA-12571 from time to time. (Also the session does not break.)
Is there a known issue ? Product-Version etc.
(We are also using Oracle 8i in some production environments, but didn't try to change ODAC there too ... )
