Updating DB using Toraquery or Tsmartquery

Hi all,
does the mechanism of update here works like BDE...
in bde i can either set catchedupdates to true or requeestlive to true in order to update the data from the db.
over here how can i update or delete the records...
if i write oraquery1.post or insert it says dataset is in edit mode...
