Evaluation questions

Post by jkai » Wed 26 May 2010 16:29

We are currently using Zeos and are evaluating the Devart pgDAC components before purchasing them. On the downloads page, there are downloads for each version of Delphi. I currently have BOTH Delphi 2006 and 2010 installed on my PC. I am upgrading to 2010, but keep having problems with one thing or another, and have to keep using 2006 for the time being.
I want to evaluate pgDAC for both 2006 and 2010, since we have other software developers who are NOT upgrading. My question is, do I have to download both, or just the 2010 one? If I download both, will they play nice together? Can I have different packages in 2006 and 2010 and switch back and forth?
Also, will Devart play nice with Zeos? I have a LOT of forms and a LOT of Zeos components in my project. I am changing to Devart because of a specific problem with the databound grid and multiselect inDelphi 2010. This problem only happens on 2 of my forms. Do I have to immediately switch every component from Zeos to pgDAC, or can I run the project using both for a while?

Hello

You can install DAC components for Delphi 2006 and Delphi 2010 at the same time without any conflicts. And we have never heard about any conflicts between DAC and Zeos components.

I have a couple of other questions. I could not find the answers to these questions on your web site, so I tried to email these to sales@devart, but got no response.

What is included in an annual subscription?
If the software is updated (which it looks like it is every month) how do we receive updates? Do we check the web site and download it from the downloads page?
Do we have to purchase a new subscription a year from now in order to continue to receive updates?

If we get a team license, what happens if we get a new PC? Is it a big deal to transfer a license from one PC to another?
