I want it gone. I don't need it and it's only ever in the way. When I want a new query, I spend half the time setting up the window so that it is text/data.

There has to be a way to change the default view.

You can right-click the 'Query Builder' tab that is at the bottom of the document and select 'Hide' from the popup menu.

That's a start, thanks. Is there anyway to make it permanent?

It still wants to popup after I execute the query instead of showing me the result set of the query. :/

You may need to check the options in the 'Environment -> Documents -> SQL documents' section of the 'Options' window (select 'Tools -> Options...' from the main menu).

Please note that you can setup the document views in the settings:
1. Select 'Tools -> Options...' from the main menu. The 'Options' window opens.
2. Navigate to the 'Environment -> Documents -> SQL documents' section.

The simplest way is right-clicking the 'Query Builder' tab that is at the bottom of the document and a menu will pop up then you select what you want.For your case select hide.
