Hi Support
We have recently been "corporatized" into an international company. This means that our I.T. Support Team has purchased version 6.3.341 for me, and they have reported some bugs on my behalf, and I am waiting for notification thay have been fixed, as the IT team member has now moved on. So, I thought I could just look for product updates, but when I do, I get the error:
Product Update failed:: The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required.
This may be because all our internet access is now via "WebMarshall", a proxy that only allows approved access to the internet. The IT team has opened pinholes to your update server, but it seems that dbForgeStudio for MySQL has no facility to log in to an INTERNET proxy, only a database proxy. At least that is my conclusion, because I have looked through forums and help for hours now, trying to find anything that seems related.
How do I make it log in to an internet proxy to look for and download updates, please? I do NOT want it to try and access the database servers through that proxy, as they are internal, and the WebMarshall proxy is outbound only, and is situated in another city within the corporate structure. Thanks
Difficulty looking for updates: Proxy Authentication Required
Re: Difficulty looking for updates: Proxy Authentication Required
You may need to setup the proxy server in the settings of Internet Explorer. The settings are used by dbForge.
Also, you can download the product updates at Registered Users' Area using your login and password received when purchasing the product along with the download link.

Re: Difficulty looking for updates: Proxy Authentication Required
Thanks. The PC was set up the way you suggest.
The difficulty is that dbForge Studio does not ASK ME FOR MY LOGIN and PASSWORD, not can I find where to store them in a config file, so the proxy refuses to connect, because dbFS does not supply my crededtials at the right time.
The IT Manager has worked around it by giving me an alternate path with pin-holes through the firewall, but he is not happy with that really.
I am surprised that the version I have is supposedly still the latest, despite the bugs reported some time previously.
I will resubmit these through the forum.
Regarding the proxy. The normal corporate proxy requires the user to log in to get out to the internet. Many Linux programs I have allow a username and password to be entered into a config file so that the connection can be established. A similar scheme for dbFS under Windows would appear very desirable.
Thanks
