Symantec detects an issue in latest version

Post by sebeto » Mon 08 Sep 2014 07:56

Symantec Endpoint finds an issue and prevents the installation of SQL Complete in the latest version. Isn't there anything you can do to prevent that (it's not the first version having this issue)? That's really bothering as it prevents the install if you can't turn that off.

Cheers

This is a known issue of Symantec falsely detecting dbForge as a suspicious software.

We reported this false-positive detection to Symantec earlier.

Currently, we suggest you to disable Symantec while installing dbForge or to add products to Symantec's exception list.

We do confirm that the files downloaded from http://www.devart.com/ or Registered User's Area do not contain any malware, so you can run the files downloaded from the websites with no risk.

Hi,

Still a pain in SQL Complete 4.8 :?

Isn't there a way you could use https://submit.symantec.com/whitelist/ or contact them to fix this issue once and for all, or maybe follow their advice to avoid false positives ("Note: To prevent false positive detections we strongly recommend vendors to digitally sign their software with a class 3 digital certificate")? It does no good to the repute of your product to have to get our IT to install it because it gets detected as a virus...

We did contact them several times previously and they just promised to sort this out.
