Dear Ladies/Gentlemen
I've used Entity Developer for creating data models from Oracle databases.
Now I should get access to some sql server databases as well; Thus, I purchased dotConnect for sql server and tried to create the requested models.
Unfortunately EntityDeveloper doesn't recognise the new installation: the Create Model Wizard allow to specify only "Devart dotConnect for Oracle" as provider.
How can I do? Please notice I need both dotConnects installed on the same machine
Cheers
Entity Developer doesn't recognise dotConnect for sql server
Re: Entity Developer doesn't recognise dotConnect for sql server
dotConnect for SQL Server supports neither Entity Framework nor Entity Developer. This provider includes only plain ADO.NET features: http://www.devart.com/dotconnect/sqlser ... tions.html.
Please use Entity Developer for Entity Framework (or Professional) for creating Entity Framework models. It uses a standard System.Data.SqlClient in this case.

Shalex
thanks a lot for your help! I'm going to test your solution with the trial version of the indicated products, and place a new order once all is working properly.
I've another question: I kept digging in the forum and found this thread:
http://forums.devart.com/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=31123
The problem looks same as mine but suggested solution is different. Did I get wrong? Are both acceptable?
If so, which one d'you think is the best for my problem?

Re: Entity Developer doesn't recognise dotConnect for sql server
Both threads recommend installing two products:
1) dotConnect for Oracle Professional
2) Entity Developer for Entity Framework (or Professional) as a separate product
Please keep in mind that both products should be of the same release date (to be compatible):

Re: Entity Developer doesn't recognise dotConnect for sql server
Ok, thanks.
I've made a test with Entity Developer (trial) and it looks working EVEN my dotConnect for Oracle is of different release date.
I'll place an order to ED Professional and check for the same release date issue. Thanks.
BTW - is there chance to have a team license/site license? On your web site I found info on single license only. Do you know where can I find such information?

Hi,
Entity Developer is licensed for use by a single user only and not available in team or site license types. A separate license should be purchased for each developer.
We provide volume discount when purchasing more than 3 licenses of Entity Developer in one order. You can check the pricing policy at https://www.devart.com/entitydeveloper/ordering.html (click on Volume discount next to the corresponding edition).
