How do you properly copy a Model from one project to another in Entity Developer?

When I copy the model files, the generation works as expected but I cannot get the diagram view to show for the model (it shows the XML). I suspect this is a bug in the Visual Studio 2012 plugin.

Please fix the issue in the following way: right click on *.edml in Solution Explorer > Open With > select Entity Developer in the list and press "Set as Default" > OK.
