Latest Entity Developer crashes

Post by shaharw18 » Sat 31 Mar 2012 12:19

I've updated my Entity Developer to the latest version.
and now I cannot create a new model or open an existing model
I've created before the update.

when I try to open a new model the application crashes.
this is the report:

Please specify if you have any other Devart products installed?
For example, LinqConnect product and Entity Developer product use common assemblies (EntityDeveloper.Orm.Common.dll etc).
The products of compatible versions have the same release date:
http://www.devart.com/linqconnect/revision_history.html
http://www.devart.com/entitydeveloper/r ... story.html

So, Entity Developer v 4.3.159 is compatible with LinqConnect v 3.2.64.
We recommend installing compatible versions.

Please notify us if this information helps.

thanks for your reply.

I've reinstalled linqConnect,mysql support and sqlite support again.

when installing the linqConnect product I've received two messages:
the first telling me that there is another incompatible version of the product:

Entity Developer version 4.3.159.0 is found in your system.
You are trying to install the incompatible 4.3.152.0 version of Entity Developer.

and another setup error message saying that:

Modules which are not in the manifest were streamed in(exception from hresult: 0x80131043.

here's a copy of install.log file:

Please make sure that the common assemblies of the products are the same. Do the following:
1. Run Entity Developer v 4.3.159 and Visual Studio.
2. Attach to the Entity Developer process in Visual Studio (Debug > Attach to Process).
3. Open Debug > Windows > Modules. Find there EntityDeveloper.Orm.Common.dll, EntityDeveloper.Orm.Linq.Common.dll, EntityDeveloper.Orm.LinqConnect.dll. Their versions must be 4.3.159.

If not, do these steps:
- uninstall Entity Developer and other Devart products;
- remove all Devart.* and policy.*.Devart.* files from the GAC;
- clear the Program Files\Devart\dotConnect , Program Files\Devart\EntityDeveloper and Program Files\Common Files\Devart folders;
- clear the bin folders of your applications;
- reinstall Entity Developer and other Devart products that you need.

As for the question about installing LinqConnect, please check that the version of LinqConnect you are trying to install is 3.2.64. Use the context menu of the LinqConnect Install package (Properties > Details).
The message
"Entity Developer version 4.3.159.0 is found in your system.
You are trying to install the incompatible 4.3.152.0 version of Entity Developer."

says that you are trying to install an older version of LinqConnect.

hi

I've cleaned the GAC and reinstall the Entity Developer.
and it works well. now, I've installed the mysql support.
but it seems not enough to use it, so I installed the linqConnect module.
when install it I'm getting an error message saying that the version of another product is incorrect:

Devart.Data assembly version 5.0.431.0 is found in Global Assembly Cache.
This product is compatible with Devart.Data.dll version 5.0.424.0.

Entity Developer version 4.3.159.0 is found in your system.
You are trying to install the incompatible 4.3.152.0 version of Entity Developer.

Modules which are not in the manifest were streamed in.
exception: 0x8131043

Now, I'm capabale of creating a new model but when I want to create a devart linqConnect model it crashes.

so there is a problem with Entity Developer and LinqConnect.
I'm using the latest versions from your website.

Please check the versions and release dates of the Devart products you are trying to install. Use the shortcut menu of the Install packages (Properties > Details).
http://www.devart.com/entitydeveloper/r ... story.html
http://www.devart.com/dotconnect/mysql/ ... story.html
http://www.devart.com/linqconnect/revision_history.html

JIC: сompatible versions of different products have the same release date.

dotConnect Universal supports the OLEDB provider for working with MS Access database. For more information, please refer to http://www.devart.com/dotconnect/univer ... iders.html
You can use dotConnectUniversal for working with a MS Access database as shown in the sample below:

Code: Select all

            UniConnection connection = new UniConnection(@"provider=MS Access;Data Source=C:\Temp\Access.mdb;");
            connection.Open();
            UniCommand comm = new UniCommand("select * from dept", connection);
            UniDataReader reader = comm.ExecuteReader();
            while (reader.Read())
            {
                for (int i = 0; i < reader.FieldCount; i++)
                    Console.Write(reader.GetValue(i) + "\t");
                Console.WriteLine();
            }
            connection.Close();

Could you explain in details where this list of databases is located?

hi

thank you for the explanation regarding the dotConnect Universal.
I'd thought it supposed to show up in the database list inside Entity Developer when wanting to connect to a new database.

now I understand the situation.
but, another question, if I may.
what is the difference between the dotconnect Universal object and the regular Data object visual studio has already. what is the benefit of using your product?

thanks
Shahar.

Entity Developer is not supported by dotConnect Universal.
shaharw18 wrote:what is the benefit of using your product?
The main purpose of dotConnect Universal is universal access to data of different databases ( http://www.devart.com/dotconnect/univer ... niSQL.html )
