Just got the new versions of IBDAC and UNIDAC today. I am not sure what to do. Both will not install as they say the other component needs updating/uninstalling. Quite a Catch-22 situation.
It is a bit painful to uninstall either. I use FastReports and playing with UniDac/UniDac stuff up those components.
It would pay you guys to work out a good upgrade system. I simply want to upgrade both of my Devart libraries, but basically cannot.
From memory, you also put libraries in silly locations (ie system32 or whatever). Forgive me if I am incorrect in this. You should NEVER do that. Never.
Updating components a real pain
Re: Updating components a real pain
All our DAC products use the same basic core, therefore, for simultaneous installation of components to the same IDE, you should install compatible versions of DAC products.
To install the latest versions of IBDAC and UniDAC, you should do the following:
- uninstall the previous versions of IBDAC and UniDAC;
- install the latest versions of IBDAC and UniDAC;

Re: Updating components a real pain
Well, as I said - uninstalling products is a real pain. It stuffs up my linked libraries (ie Fastreport, etc). I can spend hours getting it all working again. So it is very rare for me to update the Devart libraries.
I was only thinking of doing it at all as there is now a V6 of UniDac. Not sure why you went with the major version update from 5. There does not seem to be any difference at all to V5 as far as I can see. Perhaps I missed something - is there a major update?

Unfortunately, the only way to update DAC products (independently on the update type [Major/Minor version]) - is uninstallation of previous versions and installation of new compatible ones with recompilation of components corresponding to the product (for example, FastReport X UniDAC Components).
