UniDac 3.0.0.2 - RAD 2010

Hi all,

first, thanks a lot for the 2010 version.
However there is a problem: in the palette the providers are no more visible. They disappeared and it seems like they are not registered, since the IDE asks to remove them from an imported project.

This happens under both personalities (D and C++).

Any hints ?

Thanks

Claudio

In the new version the providers are moved to the 'UniDAC Providers' page.

Hi,

I am sorry, but a quick view on my three IDEs shows that:

In BCB6 it is true; all of the providers are grouped into the new tab.

In RAD2009 it is partially true: old (legacy) providers are with components, and new providers are grouped into the new tab

In RAD2010 there aren't providers, and there is not the providers tab.

We have fixed this problem. The fix will be included in the next build of UniDAC.

For a while, add only provider unit (reference to the *.lib file in C++Builder) to your project.

Hope will release soon.
Your suggestion is good for projects imported, but obviously does not work to create a new one.

The providers are missing in Delphi 2010 as well. Would be great to get them back. I'm looking forward to the ODBC support as well considering ADO was stripped from the Professional version of RAD studio.

Thanks,

Russell,

At a glance, ODBC is pretty responsive (at least, we tried it with Informix-SE), compared to components of other sellers.

We will fix the problem with providers in the next UniDAC build.
Providers are used to add providers units to USES automatically. But you can easily add a provider unit to USES manually.

When do you think the next Build is ready?

We are planning to release the next UniDAC build in a month.

You know there is a bug and you don't want to fix this as soon as possible?
I think it is not just a small bug. If people consider to buy your product, they try to install it and ending up with something that is not working as it should be. 'Yeah we know its a bug but we will fix this in a month'.
Not just the best service... Just a question

Just imagine... I downloaded your product, installed it and I expected your components in the component palette. But no there are no Providers...

What is your opinion?

This is a maximum possible term. But maybe we'll release the new build earlier.

I agree COMPLETELY with ITworx. Especially since in a previous post the bug has apparently already been fixed... Can't be that hard to say release 3.00.0.3

I like your work and the components. Today in business it is not only just the product itself on the other hand there is the service. If someone has the best Product on the market but on the other hand not the best service, People will maybe ending up with another Product with less function or lower quality but with better service.
