UniDAC 5.3.9 and NexusDB
UniDAC 5.3.9 and NexusDB
Hi. I'm a licensee of UniDAC Pro 5.3.9, non source. I have the need to access Nexus databases. It by default is not available in the Provider dropdown. From reading others posts, I know that the driver has to be compiled before it can be used. However, I see no Nexus-related files at all in my distribution.
Should I be able to use Nexus with my license, and if so, what would I need to do this? Thanks.

Hello,
Before using the NexusDB provider, you have to rebuild and reinstall its provider package. You can find the detailed steps describing the installation of the package in the UniDAC_Install_Dir\Source\NexusDBProvider\Readme.txt file, where UniDAC_Install_Dir is a directory where you installed UniDAC.
The detailed information about using NexusDB can be found in the documentation: http://www.devart.com/unidac/docs/nexusdb.htm .

Re: UniDAC 5.3.9 and NexusDB
Thanks. The issue is that the 5.3.9 installer does not appear to include the NexusDBProvider. Not only did I not see it there in my current installation, I've uninstalled, confirmed there is no "UniDAC for RAD Studio XE6 folder", and reinstalled -- it's still not there. The only folder within the Source folder is Delphi20. Thanks.
Re: UniDAC 5.3.9 and NexusDB
Hello,
Support for RAD Studio XE6 is implemented in the latest NexusDB V4. UniDAC now supports NexusDB V3.12. Support for the latest NexusDB version (including support under XE6) will be implemented in one of the next UniDAC versions.

Re: UniDAC 5.3.9 and NexusDB
Searching the forum, this was the closest, and newest related item.
Is there an estimated version of UniDAC (or less likely, estimated time) the NexusDB V4 will be supported in?
I currently have RAD Studio XE6, with NexusDB V4 installed. I purchased the Professional UniDAC 5.3.10 (without source), but have no NexusDB readme file, nor any NexusDB source files to compile that were mentioned in this thread.
You seem to indicate that NexusDB Provider source is supplied without having to purchase the UniDAC source in this thread, correct me if I'm wrong in that assessment. So I'm assuming that you don't install any of the Nexus files with the UniDAC XE6 component (or the associated readme file) since there is no NexusDBProvider folder in my UniDAC install dir after installation.
Since the OP said they had 5.3.9 and I have the next version 5.3.10, are you going to wait for a Major/Minor version update to include this functionality for NexusDB V4 or can I expect it to be in a "relatively" soon release? (5.3.11? 5.3.12 perhaps?).
I ask because I have a current project to upgrade a previous product that uses NexusDB V4 and want to implement multiple DB support in the upgrade and use the UniDAC component as part of that upgrade (to support Nexus, Oracle, and MS SQL).
Thanks for your consideration.

The NexusDB 4.0 support is planned in the next version of UniDAC.
