Non-manual deactivation of 8.x

Post by espayokc » Mon 14 Jun 2021 18:56

Is there any way to deactivate the license for dbForge Studio for MySQL version 8.x, without having to do it manually via the customer portal or through the Help menu inside the software?

We noticed that the Hardware ID of the machine changes when you upgrade. As a result, when the license activates itself after the upgrade, it activates the new hardware ID, and we end up with two license seats being used.

8.x hardware IDs have 5 sections, and 9.x hardware IDs have six sections. So, for example:

1. Version 8.x machine: licensed under hardware ID AAAA-BBBB-CCCC-DDDD-EEEE
2. Upgrade to 9.x
3. Hardware ID changes to RRRR-SSSS-TTTT-UUUU-VVVV-XXXX.
4. The customer portal now shows that the license under AAAA is still activated, and that the new hardware ID (RRRR) is also activated, separate and distinct.

De-activating the license on 9.x. deactivates it for the new hardware ID (RRRR) but does not deactivate the old hardware ID (AAAA).

My company needs to upgrade 100+ installations from 8.x to 9.x, and we'd love to be able to do this without having to manually deactivate each licenses before upgrading (or after upgrading). Is there any workaround where we can force the deactivation automatically during the upgrade or the de-installation?
