'Text Editor --> Select Marker' doesn't show in editor

I was looking at an instance of v6 and noticed the nice 'Select Marker' in the editor, but it doesn't show in my v7 editor. I even made it black in color but still nothing.
Is there some other setting that must be turned on to make this show? I've looked around but nothing stood out.
