Hello,

I bought dbforge Fusion Professional for MySQL because I thought it is almost equal to dbforge Studio but it is integrated in Visual Studio and works together with dotconnect.
Otherwise I would have bought dbForge Studio.

I could not find a possibility to create scheduled backup tasks on the database server.

I am very disappointed because the software does not work with Visual Studio 2013 like dbForge Fusion for SQL! I had to reinstall my old VS 2010 to use it!

I only found a manual backup solution to backup on a client machine. My client will not accept that I backup sometimes on my machine.

How can I secure a database server with regularly backups?

Unfortunately, we still have no estimated date for releasing the new version of dbForge Fusion for MySQL where Visual Studio 2013 is supported.

You can automate a database backup with the help of the command line interface of another our product dbForge Studio for MySQL and, for example, Windows Task Scheduler. Please refer to the 'How To: Backup a Database' topic in the product's Help documentation and the following articles on our website:

The product description on your website gives the impression that the command line interface is part of dbForge Fusion. That's disappointing!

There is a description 'How to Schedule MySQL Backup' with a tool at the default path 'C:\Program Files\Devart\dbForge Studio for MySQL\dbforgemysql.com'.
The path does not exist, nor the program in another path. Nor the information how to install the lacking program on a database server.

Manually backup on a client computer may be enough for private use but in a business environment the db management happens on a client and the backup scheduling runs on the database server itself. Therefore I bought the professional version because I thought it would cover the database maintenance tasks for professionals ...

Please note that, being an addin for Visual Studio, dbForge Fusion for MySQL can't have a command line interface comparing to a standalone product dbForge Studio for MySQL.

Also, there is no mention of the command line interface on the dbForge Fusion for MySQL Editions page.

Our users have an opportunity to evaluate fully featured 30-day trial versions of our products before they buy it. We think that 30 days is enough to try all the features of our products.

Nevertheless, we will add the according information on the website in order to avoid any possible misunderstanding.

Please note that, being an addin for Visual Studio, dbForge Fusion for MySQL can't have a command line interface comparing to a standalone product dbForge Studio for MySQL.

At the beginning of the comparison page (http://www.devart.com/dbforge/mysql/fus ... tions.html) for dbForge Fusion there is written:
'Professional — is a fully-featured software for professional work with database projects...'

I am sorry that I did not realize that 'fully-featured software for professional work' means it is only an add-on without command line tool and the essential possibility to create scheduled backups.

Also, there is no mention of the command line interface on the dbForge Fusion for MySQL Editions page.

When you follow the link on the comparison page as I described in my last post, there is a mention of the command line interface and how to create scheduled backups!

Our users have an opportunity to evaluate fully featured 30-day trial versions of our products before they buy it. We think that 30 days is enough to try all the features of our products.

I bought the software without using the trial because the description covers the desired tasks, based on the excellent reputation of devart.

Nevertheless, we will add the according information on the website in order to avoid any possible misunderstanding.

I am not familiar to the devart products.
So I thought 'database-administration' and 'mysql-backup' are also part of dbForge Fusion because you linked to them and it would make sense for a 'professional' product.

Analyzing the links of the dbForge Fusion comparison page I recognized that every link (dozens) from the dbForge Fusion comparison page http://www.devart.com/dbforge/mysql/fus ... tions.html link to the dbForge Studio Site or subsites. And now I remember why I thought, dbForge Studio is part of dbForge Fusion!

Unfortunately I did not compare the prices, otherwise I would have asked why both versions cost the same. I only compared dbForge Fusion with the 99$ for navic.. (with simple creation of backup tasks).

So I am not stupidly (possibly, as you write) misunderstanding the description but a victim of misinformation!
