VMware Fusion 6.0 font issues

Post by NDizzle » Mon 14 Oct 2013 16:48

I just recently made the switch from a Windows development environment to an OS X development environment.

I couldn't leave dbForge for MySQL behind. I'm attempting to use it in a VMWare Fusion 6.0 VM. I'm running Windows 7 Professional x64 on this VM.

I'm able to install the program fine.
I'm able to add ssh-based connections just fine.
I'm using a Vagrant VM running Centos6.4 with MySQL 5.1.69.

Initially, when I load the application and connect to the vagrant server, everything is fine as shown in screenshot1.

If I expand a schema, expand tables, right click a table and choose edit the fonts for the left side bar increase drastically and breaks the display. Shown in screenshot2.

Is this a known issue? Are there any known workarounds?

Thanks for reading.

We have tested dbForge Studio for MySQL on different operating systems with 125 DPI and it works fine. This problem is connected with your virtual machine.

Thank you for the pointer.

Indeed, to fix the issue, (if you have a retina display Mac) in the VMWare Fusion settings uncheck the box that says "Use full resolution for retina display". Then in the Windows VM, adjust the font scaling from 150% to 125%.

Any font scaling above 125% breaks dbForge.
