MySQL question?

I'm a retired programmer from 1980's - 2005. I mainly used SAS, dBase, Access and Pascal. I had an accident to my head and lost alot of memory. I want to learn MySQL, is that a database I need to purchase or what. I was looking at the package sold here called, dbForge Studio for MySQL. Is that a database also. I'm setting up a new Home Server 2011 today. And just wondered what else I needed to use dbForge Studio for MySQL.

dbForge Studio for MySQL is a MySQL front-end GUI client. Our tool does not include the MySQL database itself.

If I purchased dbForge Studio for MySQL for the front end GUI and used my MS Access 2010 for the backend, will that work ok?

dbForge Studio for MySQL can connect to MySQL Server only, so, you cannot use our tool to solve the task.
