The difference between the Developer Edition of MyDac and the Professional Version appears to be the inclusion of dbForge Fusion for MySQL in the Developer Edition.

It appears that I have these purchase options.

1) Professional Version of MyDac with 30% off dbForge Studio for MySQL Professional Edition

2) Developer Edition of MyDac

3) Purchase the Developer Edition of MyDac along with dbForge Studio for MySQL Professional

Features for the Fusion and Studio products show some differences.

Fusion shows:
Integration with the most popular IDEs
Integration with dotConnect for MySQL and MyDAC

Execute Script Wizard for quick and convenient exection of large SQL scripts
...


Studio shows:
Customizable data import from MS Access, CSV ...
Composing of data reports
Converting data into a pivot table
...

Are the differences real or just a failure to get the documentation up-to-date for both products?

What are the important differences between the products?

Do I need both?

I couldn't evaluate fusion because the installer said my trial period has expired even though I have never installed the product.

First, you don't need both products. Choose one.

Second, defferences are real. It's not the documentation bug. dbForge Fusion does not have the new features the dbForge Studio does. We plan to release the new version of dbForge Fusion later.

Third, integration features belong solely to dbForge Fusion.

Ok. I now know they are two different products and they do not contain the same features. Neither your responese nor the the email response I got from [email protected] lets me know what I need to purchase. Here is the email response:

"In case if you purchase MyDAC Professional with source code + dbForge Studio for MySQL you will get MyDAC sources and stand-alone dbForge Studio for MySQL (http://www.devart.com/dbforge/mysql/studio/)
If you purchase MyDAC Developer with source code you will have MyDAC sources and dbForge Fusion for MySQL, add-in integrated into Visual Studio (http://www.devart.com/dbforge/mysql/fusion/)"

The email response says MyDAC Developer works with Visual Studio. I use Delphi. Does the developer version work with Delphi? What do I gain by having the developer version over the standalone studio version?

I have already purchased MyDAC professional with source + dbForge Studio for MySQL. If I gain something useful and it works with Delphi, I will purchase the upgrade to the developer version.

dbForge Fusion add-in also has Delphi edition.
But if you have purchased dbForge Studio for MySQL it will be enough for you. Although dbForge Fusion has integration features they are not must-have.

I would like to know what features I am missing. Can you tell me?

It asks if I want to install in demo mode, but I would rather not since I have to uninstall and don't want to risk having to do that. I ended up having to delete all files and registry entries to get the new version of SDAC installed and working just so I could use MyDAC.
