What is the startup optimization?

Post by rprastein » Fri 02 Nov 2012 00:14

I just installed the dbForge Studio for Oracle trial, and the installer asked me if I want it to perform some optimization that will speed application startup. What exactly is done, if I choose to allow this?

Thanks,

Please be aware that when performing the application startup optimization, native image files with compiled processor-specific machine code are generated and installed into the native image cache on the local computer. Once such operation is performed, the application code is not compiled to machine code each time the application is invoked, but is taken it being already compiled from the native image cache. Therefore, it starts faster.

Thanks. So, a) it's not going to affect any operating system configuration or perfomance of other programs, and b) it won't affect performance of dbForge Studio after it has finished starting up.

Good to know.

Both a) and b) won't be affected.
