"unexpected error" "in the MySQLDirect .NET Data Provider" with 3.50.10 Beta

Post by kevink » Wed 12 Apr 2006 22:33

When I try to Add Connection from the Server Explorer I get the following error in a pop up box:
"An unexpected error occurred in the MySQLDirect .NET Data Provider. Please contact the provider vendor to resolve this problem."

There is also this message in the output window:
"Package 'MySQLDirect .NET Package' is not authorized to run under this version. ( GUID = {56ECB50E-9170-472E-8EED-67E016185FAB} )
Please contact package vendor for assistance."

I have installed version 3.50.10 Beta of the MySQLDirect .NET Data Provider and 1.70 Beta of the MySQL Developer Tools.

I am using the Standard Edition of MS Visual Studio 2005.

You need Professional Edition of MS Visual Studio 2005 for this feature to work properly.

So, when will you (Core Lab) solve this problem for the Standard version?
I've purchased VS 2005 standard and Mysql.net Professional. I expect that it will work in the standard version as well.

This problem is absent in Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition.

Well this didn't happen! "This month" is now next month. What calendar are we using here?

I bought the standard version of VS.Net 2005 just to use MySqlDirect and now I get this error too. At lease I didn't buy MySqlDirect (yet).

Is this getting fixed or what?

We were unable to overcome this issue for Standard Edition of Visual Studio for now. Please wait.

Use the Professional Edition

I upgraded to the Professional Edition of Visual Studio and this resolved the problem.

You will need to be patient if you are using the Standard Edition but I am sure they are working on a solution to the problem.

Same problem here

I also have VS 2005 standard edition and, as it might be expected, I have the same problem. If fixing this is not a high priority I think it is very disappointing. I certainly cannot afford to buy VS 2005 pro and there was no warning that the data provider works best with it. I have bought the MySQL Direct pro version and payed the extra charge so I could have the developer tools as well. Only I can't use them because I can't even add a connection to Visual Studio. What's more I can't add ANY connection to the IDE any more becaue this error appears every time I try to do so, before I even get the chance to choose the type of database I am connecting to.
