SSL and SSH Support for Direct Oracle Connections in Excel Add-ins 2.5!

Post by Devart » Thu 23 Jul 2020 12:51

Devart is glad to announce the release of Excel Add-ins 2.5 with support for secure SSL and SSH connections to Oracle in the Direct mode. Now you can connect both to on-premises Oracle and Oracle Database Cloud — a Database as a Service (DBaaS) solution from Oracle — via secure SSL/TLS and SSH protocol in the Direct connection mode.

The SSL protocol can be enabled by adding the “tcps://” prefix to the Host connection parameter. You can either specify the necessary SSL certificate in the Advanced connection parameters as a base64 encoded string or store it in Oracle Wallet and specify the wallet location.

For the SSH protocol, Excel Add-in for Oracle supports public key and password SSH authentication. You can specify authentication type, SSH user name and password or a private key and passphrase, acceptable ciphers, SSH host and port, etc. in the Advanced parameters when setting up a connection to Oracle. To enable SSH for a connection, you need to add the “ssh://” prefix to the Host (or Server) connection string parameter.

You can download Devart Excel Add-ins on our download page. Add-ins for all supported data sources are installed with a single installation package. When you install Devart Excel Add-ins for the first time you can evaluate them for a 30-day trial period.

After you evaluate Devart Excel Add-ins, you can buy a license at our ordering page. You will be provided with the license keys for the add-ins you have purchased the license for. Use these keys to register the add-ins.
