DECIMAL fields mapped as Float?

Testing dbxmda with mysql 5.0.7

DECIMAL fields (one 5.0 one 9.0 one 13.2 one 15.4) all mapped to Float even if readme.htm says ftBCD... why?
Is linked to 5 version of mysql? Cannot try with 4.x
