Invalid data specifier in VS2005 Server Explorer

I have both VS2003 and VS2005 installed on my WIndowsXP computer. I was having trouble connecting to my Oracle database using OraDirect. I remove both the 2003 and 2005 version, all the IIS web sites, all the DLL's on the computer, and all regedit entries. Rebooted and installed both version of OraDirect. When I attempt to create a connection in the VS2005 server explorer, the test connect button works OK. The server connect shows up as "*invalid data specifier*.*invalid data specifier*" and does not work.

What is meant by "server connect"? When exactly do you get the error?

After entering hte connection information and clicking on the OK button the dialog closes. When I look at the VS2005 Server Explorer instead of the Database/server information I see the "invalid data specifier". Sometime when the Add Connection disloag appears it closes when I attemapt to type into the Server dropdown. I'm using version 3.55.21. ALso in the VS2003 Add Connection dialog "corelab OraDirect" doesn't even show up.
