Ever since upgrading to dotConnect from oraDirect, I seem to run into problems with the entity designer in visual studio 2008.

I can add tables to the model initially, but when I chose any option under "update model from database", I get a System.OutOfMemoryException.

We do not support the Update from database wizard because of some its internal troubles.
You can use it if you wish, but we cannot guarantee the success.

Hmm.. ok.. It just seems odd that the feature is now broken when it worked before.

Might also be something to mention when you write "Visual Studio EDM Wizard support" on your features page.. Not being able to add tables after initial creation is a pretty big drawback for someone expecting this feature. That being said, we only use the wizard for quick model testing, so it isn't a tremendous drawback for us.

We have fixed some problem which could have caused System.OutOfMemoryException in your case, the fix will be available in next build. But our fix does not influence Update from database Wizard, its bugs will persist.

I have the same Exception since the upgrade. In a roundtrip engineering developpment mode, it's a monster issue if i cannot use the update from database wizard. it worked pretty well with the last version and now it does not. I expect this functionnality to work as it worked before; I cannot spend my time designing the complete model each time I have to add a new table or do it by hand in XML mode.

I spent time to upgrade my project to the v5; now should I have to spent time to downgrade to v4 ?? Is a patch already available for registered users ? I cannot wait for the next version and it is clearly a regression that would not have allowed the v5 released. I am a bit upset with your answer. You claimed a VS EDM support; it's not supported anymore and it was a must have in my Devart solution choice.

What about an available fix ?
When the new version will be available ?

I need to know if I can wait for a fix or if I must downgrade my project.

Has the 5.00.16 build still the update error or is it safe to upgrade ? Has someone tested the behaviour ?

The stored procedures issue is fixed in the current build.
But we cannot guarantee the correct work of Update model from database wizard, because it has a lot of shortcomings.
Try installing the new dotConnect for Oracle Trial Edition 5.0.16 build.
