Is there an ETA on when support for the new VS2008 / .Net 3.5 SP1 version of the ADO.Net Entity Framework wil be available?

Yes, there is.
We plan to announce a new build with
Visual Studio 2008 SP1 Beta & .NET 3.5 SP1 Beta support during the next week!
