Offline mode/sync between laptops & central DBs

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is relevant, but I'm been asked to get my application running on laptops, also offline.
It would have been great to have a tool that allows a local embedded MySQL server to be used for example, and when On-Line, all changes made since the last network connection would be cleanly synced (uloaded & downloaded) with the "main DB".
Do you understand, what you dou think?
