Postgresql ODBC features

Postgresql ODBC features

Postby chocholousp » Fri 05 Feb 2016 09:57

Hi,

could you please name some features which will make me use devart ODBC drivers instead of free postgresql ODBC. I am specially interested in network connection stability (e.g. reconnect capability or compression) and performance. Do you have any benchmarks?

Thanks, Pavel

For the time being, we have implemented and now testing the following functionality of ODBC driver for PostgreSQL, that is absent in standard ODBC drivers:
- support for Linux and MacOS (FreeBSD coming soon)
- secure connection to PostgreSQL using SSH tunnel and SSL protocols.

In addition, users of our products, ODBC driver for PostgreSQL in particular, get advantages of user support:
- frequent releases( https://www.devart.com/odbc/postgresql/revision_history.html );
- product purchase provides annual subscription for free updates.

Currently, the Devart driver shows similar or higher performance in comparison to the standard ODBC drivers.

I can't use materialized views with the free odbc driver; is there support on your product for postgresql materialized views? or in the excel add-in? or any of your products?

TIA

In ODBC driver you can get data from such views using a query. In the current version, such views won't be displayed in the object tree. We will add this feature in the next version.
