Using SSAS with a Vertica database

Post by tdeane » Sat 06 Mar 2010 14:33

I have a Vertica Analytical database with large volumes that I want to use with MS SSAS for both cube creation and data mining.

I am able to connect to the database through their ADO.NET driver at the data source view, however when I try to run a mining application within SSAS I get an error as SSAS generates SQL code to the MS spec with square brackets [] around the table and field names.

I have read the information on your dot connect universal product and would like to know if this product would solve my problem.

As far as I can understand, you want to use a data mining application with the Vertica database.

If an ADO.NET provider for Vertica is available, dotConnect Universal can be used to work with the Vertica database. However, dotConnect Universal provides no Analysis Services at its own.

Please tell us if this answers your question.
