Post by DimonKOH » Fri 18 Jul 2014 14:49

Hi there.

Please help me to figure out why the check boxes on the column mapping screen are not available.

Thanks

This is a limitation of dbForge Data Compare for Oracle when working with backups. The unique key (PRIMARY or UNIQUE) is automatically set as the comparison key.

Please let us know if any questions arise.

Our client's ERP system has vast majority of its tables with no primary key or index.
And we are not allowed to add any on the "Live" server.
:(

We would be very much attracted by a "compare database vs backup using ad-hoc keys" feature.

Will this limitation be lifted in future?

This is quite a complicated functionality that requires emulating the server's sorting. Such a sorting will take a lot of time and system's memory. Theoretically, it's possible, but we do not see the practical use in such a feature.

As a workaround, you can deploy the backup onto a local server and perform comparison between the local and live servers.
