Hi Devart team.
I've downloaded the trial release of Entity Developer, and encountered an issue while installing : "Access denied".
I've tried both normal and administrator install, but get same error.
Is there a log file where I could get information about what's wrong.
Working space :
- Windows XP SP 3.
- Visual Studio 2010
Regards.
Access denied while installing
Re: Access denied while installing
Do you mean that you have tried to install Entity Developer using Administrator account of your operating system? If not, try this.safig wrote:I've downloaded the trial release of Entity Developer, and encountered an issue while installing : "Access denied".

Please run the Entity Developer installation from command line with the following option:
entitydeveloper.exe /log="D:\install.log"
Send us this install.log file.

I've allready tried to install the Entity developer using Administrator account (actually, mine is administrator)...
The issue appears while creating "shorcuts"...
I'll try the /log option ans will send you the log file.
Even so, the Entity developer seems to run correctly.
However, I can find the "Template menu option" in VS 2010. Thus, I can't use ED as described in your video...
Regards.
Please navigate to the Tools > Entity Developer > Model Explorer menu of Visual Studio and find the Templates node. Is that what you mean? If not, please post here the link to the video about Entity Developer you are talking about.safig wrote:However, I can find the "Template menu option" in VS 2010. The video I'm referencing into my previous message is the demo of LinqConnect...Shalex wrote:Please navigate to the Tools > Entity Developer > Model Explorer menu of Visual Studio and find the Templates node. In this video, 3:29 after the beginning, the "Entity Developer" menu is open, in which we can see the option : "Templates"...
This option does not appear into VS after the tools installation.
Regards.

Thank you for the clarification. The LinqConnect demo refers to a prior version of LinqConnect; since then, we have significantly improved our support for code generation templates, thus changing the design-time interface for managing them. In particular, the Templates item of the Tools -> Entity Developer menu group was removed, and the Templates node was added to the Model Explorer tool window instead. For more information about this, please refer to the 'Common Concepts' -> 'Working with Templates' section of the Entity Developer documentation.

OK, thanks... I'll test this soon and will come back if necessary.
Let's forget installation issues. It just looks like shortcuts problems...
