Question about LinqConnect / Metro / SQL Server

Post by ashlar64 » Fri 20 Dec 2013 22:13

I am curious if you think there will be SQL Server support sometime in the future for Metro?

LinqConnect relies on the standard System.Data.SqlClient provider to connect to SQL Server. As this provider is not available for Windows Store applications, LinqConnect for Metro doesn't support it and there are no plans to implement this functionality.

Yes I know. I should have rephrased my question. Do you know if Microsoft will eventually provide System.Data.SqlClient provider for Window store apps? I have done several searches and really haven't got any good info on it. I was hoping that you guys would have perhaps heard something.

We have not contacted Microsoft regarding this question. If Microsoft will provide System.Data.SqlClient provider for Window store apps, we will consider adding this support in LinqConnect for Metro, too.

Also, you can vote for "Make System.Data available to Metro style apps" suggestion here http://visualstudio.uservoice.com/forum ... style-apps.
