Oracle dotConnect Linq to SQL support for MS ASP.NET LinqDat

Post by David Travis » Tue 06 Oct 2009 23:35

Hi,

I am currently evaluating Oracle dotConnect Linq to SQL and am unable to get add, update and delete working using a linq data source for databound controls such as DataView, FormView and GridView.

I have seen other posts on this forum concerning this issue and the answer (as of late 2008) was that linqdatasource was not supported by devart.

If true, this is very troubling as using a linqdatasouce gives automatic CRUD capabilities for the controls that I mentioned above. Not to have this capability will nearly double the development time if I use Linq for an 80 table application I am working on.

Probably, the best devlopment path would be not to use Linq but to use an sql datasource. Hence, no need to purchase dotConnect.

My question is will dotconnect support an linqdatasource (and when), or alternatively, is there a simple workaround to achieve CRUD with ASP.NET controls?

Thanks in advance for your replies,

David

We have implemented our DbLinqDataSource control.
It will be available in the near Beta build of dotConnects.

Hi,

Forgot to ask what is the timeframe for the release of the beta with Linkdatasource support?
