I can’t connect to postgres using Server Explorer

Post by rogerio.bassete » Sat 05 Aug 2006 20:59

Hello,

I have just installed Visual Studio 2005 Professional and the version 2.50 of
Corelab PostgreSQL Direct.NET Trial.

I can’t connect to postgres using Server Explorer. I added a new connection, but I can’t find Postgres in the Data Source.

Thank you

Have you received any error during installation of the data provider or first launch of Visual Studio 2005 aftewards?
Please check that our provider can be found in data source.

Did you install PostgreSQLDirect .NET for Visual Studio 2005 or for 2002/2003?
The installation file should be named pgsqlnet2.exe, not pgsqlnet.exe.

I also have same problem, I uninstalled the trial version, and installed the "Full version" (pgsqlnet250std2.exe) into my machine. But I found that when I try to add a data source into my project, I don't have postgresql data provider inside . It is over there when I use the trial version.

Please provide me some suggestion. I already download two times PostgreSQLDirect.NET follow my the registration information. And uninstall the PostgreSQLDirect.NET and reinstall back two times, but it still have the same situation.

You need Professional edition of PostgreSQLDirect for this functionality to work properly.

In your webpage (http://crlab.com/pgsqlnet/) said that the standard edition got following features:

1. Design-time features, including component editors and property editors

2. Advanced Visual Studio .NET 2005 integration (Server Explorer and other features)

So, I think the connect to postgresql in Server Explorer feature should be inside standard edition.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

It is currently not supported because of wrong PLK key embedded into PostgreSQLDirect. We are waiting for another PLK. Look forward to the next builds.
