what network protocold does this dbExpress driver support?

Hi, also as MySQL dbExpress driver, what type of connections does htis DbExpress support?
I mean, Direct protocol?, Using client dll? or does Interbase client software have to be installed?

DbxIda requires gds32.dll or fbclient.dll to work.
