IBDAC Installation Aborted

Post by mariusturnkey » Mon 24 Aug 2015 19:09

Hi,

I am running Delphi XE 7 Pro, and IBDAC 5.4.13 is installed. Now I want to upgrade to the latest version, but when I run the Install File it says "RAD Studio XE7 IDE is not installed. IBDAC installation aborted."

Can someone please point me in the right direction, as Delphi XE 7 IDE is definitely installed, I use it every day.

Regards
Marius

Please run regedit.exe and check for the registry branch: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Embarcadero\BDS\15.0 for the 64 bit version of Windows or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Embarcadero\BDS\15.0 for 32 bit version of Windows, and the RootDir key in this branch. If such branch and key are present in your registry, try to run the installer as administrator.

Hello Victor,

No such node exists in my Registry.

I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, and like I mentioned I do make use of Delphi XE7 on this machine on a daily bases.

Any other suggestions?

Regards
Marius

If you have installed RAD Studio XE7 correctly, you should have the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Embarcadero\BDS\15.0 branch and and the RootDir key in this branch. Please try to reinstall RAD Studio and run it (it will initialize registry) before running IBDAC installation.
Perhaps the problem arose after you have installed the RAD Studio under a different user account or you haven't chosen "install for anyone using this computer" upon installation.
If this does not solve the problem, please provide us with remote access to your computer, and we will try to help you solve this problem.

Did your check change after the IBDAC 5.4.13 install? Why did IBDAC 5.4.13 install correctly on my setup and now the latest does not want to install.

It's a mission to re-setup my complete development environment for one component set that suddenly does not think I am using XE7.

We have not made any changes in the latest version (5.5.17) of the IBDAC installer as compared to the IBDAC 5.4.13 installer. In the absence of the above-mentioned section and key in the register, when you run the IBDAC 5.4.13 installer as well as the IBDAC 5.5.17 installer, you will get the error "RAD Studio XE7 IDE is not installed. IBDAC installation aborted".
