User Interface Defaults
Is it possible to set up the UI so that when a table is selected in the Database Explorer it comes up with:
Combined Layout rather than Split Layout and Data rather than Main
Thanks.

Please perform the following:
1. Select 'Tools -> Options' from the main menu. The 'Options' window opens.
2. Navigate to the 'Environments -> Documents -> Object editors' branch.
3. Select the 'One main document view' radio-button.
4. Navigate to the 'Database Explorer -> General' branch.
5. Select the 'Retrieve data' radio-button.
6. Click 'OK'.

Re: User Interface Defaults
I don't know what the OP means by "selected" but what I want to do is anytime I edit a table, the editor opens in combined layout. I applied the steps recommended but it opens in split layout.

Re: User Interface Defaults
Did it. If I edit a table by right-click or double click, it still opens in split layout, not combined.alexa wrote:Please perform the following:

Re: User Interface Defaults
Please check that you have closed all previous tabs with table editors.
Re: User Interface Defaults
Closed all the tabs. Closed the program. Opened the program. Double clicked a table. Opens in split layout
Re: User Interface Defaults
Thank you for the reply.
Please try performing the 'Reset all settings' operation available in the 'Import and Export Settings Wizard'.
Please make sure you select the 'Yes, save my current settings' option in the next page of the wizard so you can restore the settings just in case.

Re: User Interface Defaults
Did the reset. Same. Looking back on your previous advice, I wonder if you understand the question
>> "3. Select the 'All views tabbed' radio-button."
Views are tabbed - always have been - that is not the issue.
I don't want a default view of split screen when I edit a table - what you call "split layout" where the columns are shown in the top half of the window, with the SQL definition in the bottom. I want a default view of what is called for some reason "combined layout" although all it shows are the columns: Name, Data type, Unsigned, etc. etc., optionally with their properties on the right.
I don't want to the see the SQL definition statements in the bottom half of the window.
Speaking of that bottom pane, it would also be nice if once resized, it held its new size permanently, until resized again.

Re: User Interface Defaults
You have to select the 'All views tabbed' radio-button displayed on the screenshot https://i.imgur.com/uFuVZhd.png
Re: User Interface Defaults
You have selected the 'All views tabbed' radio-button in the wrong branch of the 'Options' window which is 'Environment -> Documents -> SQL document'.
Instead, please navigate to the 'Environment -> Documents -> Object editors' branch, bot not to 'Environment -> Documents -> SQL document'.
