PLEASE: give tabs temp names
PLEASE: give tabs temp names
dear support,
after working months with dbforge i can say, there is no better tool out there,
one reason is, you listen to you customers, and that gives me hope for this issue:
when working 12hours a day into mysql databases it´s not unsual that you have 20 or more tabs open with differnet types of selects. point is: after a while i don´t know, where my stuff is, when searching a special select in one of my 20 open tabs ;-(
i know i can save them, but that´s NOT what i want, i need to give a tab a
temporary name to identify it and to know, what the selects inside are about.
this would give your customers so much more usability!
right-mouse-click on tab -> "name it" --> set any name
that would be a dream!
thanks,
micha

Re: PLEASE: give tabs temp names
We were not able to reproduce this issue.btw.. i tried to find text in open unsaved tabs... that is not working, would also be great to see this feature in the next time! (tested with beta 6)
Could you please describe the steps to reproduce it in details?

- put inside a select like: select * from articles
- create a new editor tab, don´t save it
- go to the new tab
- STRG+F
- search for "articles" in Look in: all open documents
---> does not find anything

Re: PLEASE: give tabs temp names
We explained how to create a blank project in the following post: url=http://forums.devart.com/viewtopic.php? ... 085#p88675after working months with dbforge i can say, there is no better tool out there,

Please note that the database projects also store the information on open documents, so next time you open the previously saved project, the documents that were open last time you saved the project, will be restored.
Re: PLEASE: give tabs temp names
i understand what you say, but the point is not to restore tabs, the point is, to give tabs a name without saving them, thats the point. i don´t want to have hundrets of sql files in a tmp folder.. i just want to give a "unsaved" tab a name... that´s all
Re: PLEASE: give tabs temp names
Thank you for the reply.- create a new editor tab, don´t save it
- put inside a select like: select * from articles
- create a new editor tab, don´t save it
- go to the new tab
- STRG+F
- search for "articles" in Look in: all open documents
---> does not find anything
We were able to reproduce this issue and will fix it in one of the next product builds.
