PLEASE: give tabs temp names

Post by michabbb » Tue 26 Feb 2013 11:51

dear support,

after working months with dbforge i can say, there is no better tool out there,
one reason is, you listen to you customers, and that gives me hope for this issue:

when working 12hours a day into mysql databases it´s not unsual that you have 20 or more tabs open with differnet types of selects. point is: after a while i don´t know, where my stuff is, when searching a special select in one of my 20 open tabs ;-(

i know i can save them, but that´s NOT what i want, i need to give a tab a
temporary name to identify it and to know, what the selects inside are about.

this would give your customers so much more usability!

right-mouse-click on tab -> "name it" --> set any name

that would be a dream!

thanks,
micha

We were not able to reproduce this issue.

Could you please describe the steps to reproduce it in details?

sure, maybe i did something wrong:

- create a new editor tab, don´t save it
- put inside a select like: select * from articles
- create a new editor tab, don´t save it
- go to the new tab
- STRG+F
- search for "articles" in Look in: all open documents

---> does not find anything

We explained how to create a blank project in the following post: url=http://forums.devart.com/viewtopic.php? ... 085#p88675

Please note that the database projects also store the information on open documents, so next time you open the previously saved project, the documents that were open last time you saved the project, will be restored.

i understand what you say, but the point is not to restore tabs, the point is, to give tabs a name without saving them, thats the point. i don´t want to have hundrets of sql files in a tmp folder.. i just want to give a "unsaved" tab a name... that´s all ;)

Thank you for the reply.

We were able to reproduce this issue and will fix it in one of the next product builds.

This issue is fixed in the new build 6.0.107 of dbForge Studio Beta for MySQL 6.0: http://www.devart.com/dbforge/mysql/stu ... nload.html
