Is MySQLDirect .NET version 4.00 beta a trial ?

Post by cesarvegamx » Thu 15 Feb 2007 05:11

or a full version?

I've just purchase MySQLDirect Professional. I was told I could use the 4.00beta if I bought the 3.55 version. I'm working in a project where I can use the beta with no problem, the web site is beta, too.

So, I'm now using the 4.00beta I downloaded from the site, but that beta is in a public page, so I wonder if this beta is trial or not. I fear it will expire some day and left the website down.

Never mind. I re-read the email and she only said I was going to be entitled to use 4.00 when released.

But, how hard is to build a non-trial beta for paying customers !?

Actually, many companies releases beta versions without restrictions or very, very long trial periods (like 6 months or so).

To be entitled to use 4.0 when released, you will have to upgrade.

We are going to release MySQLDirect .NET 4.0 in a couple of weeks, so please wait a bit.

We provide beta until the moment when the full version is released.

To be entitled to use 4.0 when released, you will have to upgrade.
Really ?

That doesn't match this:
Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry.
You can purchase MySQLDirect .NET 3.55 now and upgrade for free to version 4.00 on the final release.
You will get free upgrade during one year from the time of purchase.

I didn't mean you would have to pay for the upgrade. When MySQLDirect .NET 4.0 is released, you will be announced about this. Then you will apply to get the upgrade (in your case it is free). But until then MySQLDirect .NET 4.0 can't be used in a production environment. That's it.

I guess that's GOOD news since I stupidly paid for 3.5 just yesterday and can't even get THAT to work!
