Noob Question on how filter data with this tool

I am new to VB and MySQL so bare with me. I downloaded the trial and created a MySQL database and connected to it and dropped fields onto a form (VB.NET 2005) and it all works fine. I would now like to know how to filter the form data based on the value in a text box on the form. I don't even know where to begin.
